In 1997, NIC and the Coeur d' Alene Tribe entered into the mutual agreement called the 9-Point Agreement, to deal with names and campus locations.
For more than 12 years both entities worked together on projects of mutual benefit to both communities. Along with making NIC a more welcoming, supportive and diverse environment for Indian students, it also was created to help other students as well as visitors understand and gain additional knowledge of NIC and the Coeur d' Alene Tribe with the direction of 18 team leaders.

On Sunday, around 1000 students poured into the Chiles Center at the University of Portland for the housing selection process. Some students, such as myself, were quite excited for the selection process. But by the end of the day, I was frustrated, disheartened and cheated.
